Recently Quoted
Recently quoted a sheet metal part to a contract electronic assembly house and today visited with the customer.
Parts were less expensive and tooling was substantially less expensive so that if they get the contract, S & Z gets the order. Plus we are now on their bidders list for future contracts. With this type of contract the order will run for a year at a time so a major reduction in tooling cost is a huge advantage. The fact that tooling lead time is typically only four weeks is another advantage. In addition having a Q/C company inspect the parts before leaving Taiwan is another big advantage as customer will not have to do an incoming inspection. And remember all of these products can be produced at an ISO 9002 factory if so desired by the customer.
Further all of these contract electronic assemblies will need some sort of housing.
This housing can be plastic, sheet metal, die casting or other type of casting. We can do them all including secondary operations and finishing. This makes us a one stop shopping center to this type of customer.
This is a tremendous opportunity for us. For existing contracts I would do my best to work out an amortization of the tooling or even waive it if possible.
